Most people have varied interests. Whatever interests a person has, Hernando County, Florida can most likely satisfy them.
The 506-square-mile county contains not only the city of Brooksville, which is the county seat, but also Hernando Beach, Istachatta, Masaryktown, Nobleton, Rolling Acres, Spring Hill and Weeki Wachee. If those don’t satisfy your urge for cities, Tampa, one of Florida’s largest metropolises, is located only about a 45-mile drive to the south along the Suncoast Parkway. Orlando, with it’s theme parks, is only about a 50-mile drive to the east. Prefer to take things slower? Maybe your interests lie more toward nature and wildlife? Hernando County has that covered very adequately, too. Large parts of the county are devoted to wildlife and nature. Within this one, single county are Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge, the Withlacoochee State Forest, Chinsegut Hill National Wildlife Refuge, the Weeki Wachee Preserve, the Silver Lake Recreation Area, and Weekee Wachee Springs. And since the average temperature for January is 60 degrees, the climate allows for years-around enjoyment of the outdoors. Are you a history buff? Again, lovely Hernando County has that covered as well. Originally named in 1843 for Spanish explorer Hernando Desoto, the name was changed to “Benton” in 1844. This was in honor of Senator Thomas H. Benton, who put the bill before State Legislature that opened the land up for settlement. Hernando County has something to offer everyone, really. Whether your interests lie in exploring bustling urban areas, history, or nature and wildlife, owning real estate in the area is something you may want to consider checking into. Homes for sale don’t stay on the market too very long in Hernando County with good reason. With it’s warm climate, nature preserves, easy access to the Gulf of Mexico, and big-city life, it’s no wonder the population has climbed from a little over 44,000 in 1980 to over 156,000 in 2005. Real estate in the area is in high demand. Yet the cost of homes for sale is competitive with other parts of the Nature Coast. So, if Hernando County satisfies your cravings for year-around warm weather, nature, access to cities and other people or water-themed sports, why not think about joining us? |
